This might be copium, but I really do feel watching this team that Warley (and to your point, Gertrude and Bliss to a less extent) would have fixed so many problems we have. Basketball requires having SOMEONE to break down the defense off the dribble and then distribute- and Warley would have done that at a much better rate than our guards now are capable of. I would like to see us trying try to cut more aggressively to alleviate the ball pressure, but that comes with more tradeoffs than simply having a guy who can get to spots off the dribble

I agree. Impossible to say if it would be enough – but the team is very much missing a Warley and/or a Gertrude style of player.

Good analysis as usual. One thing you didn’t talk about or I missed is our lack of screening to get our 3 point shooters open. IMac had a bad couple of games at least for scoring. It doesn’t seem like we did anything to free him for shots. While he is not the best at getting free on his own for shots, he showed some glimpses of it in early games. He was blanketed by his defensive man in the TN game and got no help with screens etc. He is too good a pure shooter not to have more in the offense to get him a crack to get open. Much work to be done in many areas.

Yeah I mean we could try to do more of that but that was a lot of what the offense was last year for him. There’s still some of that. One of the Ames turnovers in my clips was iMac coming around a curl screen, for example. Many more of him being pushed out immediately on the catch.
